Rental Terms
All vehicle rentals are governed by a comprehensive Rental Agreement, which you will receive at the time of booking confirmation or when you collect your vehicle. This agreement outlines the specific terms and conditions, insurance information, applicable charges, and your responsibilities during the rental period. In case of any discrepancies between these Terms and the Rental Agreement, the Rental Agreement will prevail.
Eligibility Criteria
Rental Vehicle Requirements
- To rent a vehicle from Arnold Car Hire, you must be at least 21 years old, though age restrictions may differ based on the vehicle type. A valid driving licence for the appropriate category is required, along with identification and proof of your current address. Payment details and a security deposit are necessary, along with any other stipulations outlined in the Rental Agreement.
Booking and Payments
- Reservations can be arranged via our website, by telephone, or directly at our Dartford office. A deposit may be necessary to confirm your booking. The total payment and security deposit are usually required at the time of vehicle pickup. Prices are listed in British Pounds (£) and include applicable VAT. We accept major credit and debit cards, processed securely through trusted payment systems.
Vehicle Pickup and Drop-off
- At the time of vehicle collection, a thorough inspection is required to identify and report any pre-existing damage. A vehicle condition report will be prepared and must be signed by you. Upon returning the vehicle, it should be in the same condition as when collected, allowing for standard wear and tear; any new damage will be evaluated and billed accordingly. The vehicle should also be returned with the same fuel level as at pickup, with refueling charges applicable if this is not met. Late returns could result in additional fees, so please notify us promptly if you expect a delay. You will be held responsible for any parking violations, traffic fines, or related charges incurred during your rental, along with an associated administration fee.
Insurance and Liability Terms
- All rentals come with basic third-party insurance, with full coverage specifics and excess amounts outlined in the Rental Agreement. Additional insurance options may be available to help limit your financial liability. Review these options thoroughly. You will be liable for damages or loss up to the excess amount, except where additional insurance applies. Negligence, misuse, or violation of these Terms will result in your responsibility for any damage, regardless of insurance.
Cancellation and Modifications
Cancellation and amendment policies differ based on the type of booking and how much notice is provided. For precise information, please consult your booking confirmation or Rental Agreement. Be aware that late cancellations or failure to show up may incur additional charges.
Prohibited Activities
Prohibited uses of the vehicle:
- Utilizing the vehicle for any unlawful activities is prohibited. This includes racing, rallying, off-roading, or any actions that pose a safety risk. Transporting hazardous materials, sub-letting the vehicle, or allowing unauthorized drivers is not permitted. Driving under the influence of alcohol or drugs, exceeding passenger or weight limitations, and operating outside designated geographical boundaries without consent are also violations of our policy.
Breach of these terms may lead to rental termination and fees.
Liability Restrictions
To the fullest extent allowed by English and Welsh law, Car Hire will not be responsible for any indirect, incidental, special, or consequential damages, including loss of profits, data, or business, resulting from your use of our services. Our total liability for any claims is capped at the rental amount you paid in the previous 12 months. This limitation does not apply to liability for death or personal injury due to negligence or for fraudulent activities.
9. Applicable Law
These Terms are governed by the laws of England and Wales. Any disputes will be handled exclusively by the courts of England and Wales.
10. Modifications to Terms
Arnold reserves the right to update these Terms at any time. Changes take effect immediately upon posting on our website. Continued use of our services indicates your acceptance of the revised Terms.
